Studio Calico Valley High Kit Reveal {and there's a little extra too}
Can you believe it's already time for the July kit reveal at Studio Calico? Yeah, me neither but I sure hope you are excited for it since there are lots and lots of fun embellishments and stamps included. Let's get right to my gallery projects for this month so I can show you! Also, you *may* want to read all the way down for a special perk ;)
The patterned paper and speech bubble stamp on this card is from the Valley High main card kit and I think it's a complete bonus that the size and shape goes so well with the speech bubble spray mask that was part of SC's Winter CHA release. I sprayed with the new Navy Mister Huey from the Atlantic collection directly onto the patterned paper. As for the glittered sentiment, I used my trusty Martha Stewart glue pen to trace the stamped sentiment and sprinkled gold glitter on top.
This one is probably my favorite card from my gallery this month! I was able to incorporate so many fun patterns and embellishments from all the kits I got without it looking like too much of a good thing since the background and bow is fairly neutral in color. Just don't ask how long it took me to decide where goes what ;-)
For this card I played with some subtle elements for added texture, e.g. the heat embossed feathers in the background. The clear embossing adds just a little extra sparkle and elegance without distracting from my focal point.
If you know me a little, you know how I love me some pops of color and this watercolored layered flower - cut with the Silhouette Cameo and the card kit digital stamp files - is just that! I mixed a few of the more primary colored watercolors from the main card kit (yes, there's a set of semi-moist watercolors included!) with the brights from the Peerless Watercolor Papers in the shop to achieve these pretty pinks and corals. To finish everything off, I added a few sprinkles of neon orange Mister Huey - these neon colors are growing on me these days :)
I'd bet some of you saw this one coming, right? I have quite the thing for tiny little note cards and the office mail style mini envelopes that was included in the card kit was just screaming at me to be dressed up :) I also decorated the the notecard for the inside, which you can see on one of the detail shots in the SC gallery.
As for my last card for today, I wanted to switch the size up from the regular A2 and cut this down to 3 1/2 by 4 7/8 in. I found this was just a better match for long, skinny tag that was included in the Jennifer add-on. I love how the colors in this add-on go so well together without being overly matchy matchy. For my finishing touches, I add some sprinkles of my favorite Calico Shine Mister Huey and a bit of the skinny silver glitter tape.
Now for the little perk I hinted at in the beginning - should you decide to become a new subscriber for any of the main kits, you can use the following codes for 5 US$ off your first month's kit:
Please note that links to July kits become active for everyone at midnight EST on 6/28 and the codes will expire at June 30th, 2013 at midnight EST. Since SC was able up the quantities, you probably will be able to start your subscription beginning with the Valley High Kit - yes, also for the PL kit! Talk about good news :) Happy shopping and thanks so much for stopping by!!
