SC Double Scoop

Hello there (and happy Labour Day weekend to my US readers)! I hope this post finds you all well on this first day of fall :) I have some fresh cards I want to share with you... first up, one with a lot of HAND-stitching. Gasp! It's something that I rarely do because, let's face it, I might be a bit lazy in that regard, but my sewing machine was acting up and the SC Toolbox class stitching lesson's did the rest to convince me. And I'm glad it happened. For the background, I used a digital doily stamp from Studio Calico's Double Scoop kits and cut it from transparency film with my Silhouette Machine. Then, I used it as a mask and sprayed it with Mister Huey Seafoam mist and sprinkled some Seafoam and Calico Shine over it. As for the stamps and accents, they're all from Studio Calico's Double Scoop main card kit.

This next card uses only items from the card add-on Bubblegum for September. It all spins around the idea to use one of the adorable leaves that Catherine Davis designed for this month's SC kit. I dragged it into the Silhouette software and used the points tool to break the path of the leaf on both sides so that it would not cut through all of the card base. That way, I could watercolor and then bend the top and bottom of the leaf to create dimension without adding bulk, which is perfect for mailing.

This last card for today is probably my favorite from the bunch of cards I made with the September kit - it's another main card kit only by the way. Must have something to do with the natural colors which seem so fitting for fall. An effect I loved was the lace border stamp peeking from under the paper strips. I stamped it first with a cream color then stamped over it - slightly offset - with a watermark ink. The photograph doesn't do it justice but it gives an almost 3D-ish look in reality you may want to try on your own projects. After all was done, I added one of the adorable cabochon flowers to finish the card off.
