More Marks & Co. Kit Projects
Time flies when your having fun, huh? Summer is coming along great with evenings out in gardens and on decks with cook outs and chasing toddlers, street festivals and lots and lots of ice cream. Blog life and crafting got put on the back burner the last few days but I feel it's time to get back into it. For starters, how about the remainder of my
Studio Calico Marks & Co. Kit projects?
I used lots of watercolors and Mister Huey Navy to color on this one. Also, I loved the green ribbon! I don't usually turn to ribbon as an embellishment - don't get me wrong I have a full shoebox of spools and rolls, just to find them too bulky for mailing when I comes to putting them on a card - but his one's gorgeous. A lovely emerald shade and really soft, not your regular grosgrain ribbon that ties greatly into a big fluffy bow :)
The vintage deer cut-out in add-on Salinger was so adorable, I had to use it for a baby card. I was looking for some softer colors and tuned them down even with a Silhouette heart cut I had made with the PL digital files and used the matching heart stamp (by Kal Barteski <3!) over it here and there.
I already mentioned gelato is huge part of summer around here so it was a given to use the ice cream stamps/digital files on a card. I stamped the cone for this and decided to cut the scoops with the Silhouette, then spray with Mister Huey's and add some opaque white paint from my watercolor set to give the impression of really creamy, melting ice cream.
I have a soft spot for Crate Paper, especially Maggie's collection are so pretty and I *may* have squealed with delight when I first saw that paint chip style paper I used for the card below. I mean it's turquoise, how could I not? ;-) Long story short: I didn't want to use a lot of other colors/patterns to compete with it. The neutral kraft cardstock, denim ribbon and white/transparent butterfly die-cuts (card kit digital files) did the trick for me! That pinked circle cut out on my main card base was also cut with the card kit digi files - I find them VERY versatile this month!
Alas, that's it already for today! See you soon-ish - I hope August is treating you well until then :)
