Birthday Cards

Of all the cards I make, I always seem to be short in supply for birthday cards... like can't ever have enough of them and when dig through my stash they're always gone first. Today, I want to show you some that have already left the house but didn't make it onto the blog so far.

I don't usually go for "centered" designs, somehow there's always something left or right or hanging over sides of the card base, but I really dig this one layout.
The next card I want to show you was made for a fellow scrapper who is part of a birthday card swap I committed to for this year. I still think it's a neat idea - I mean, who doesn't love to receive lots and lots of handmade cards in the mail? I mostly used Studio Calico's Atlantic collection and dug deep in my embellishment stash for this and feel really good about using some of them instead of hoarding those pretties.

Also, I was really surprised how good the chipboard speech bubble took the stamping ink. Although the surface is slightly on the shine side, it didn't smear one bit.
The third and last card for today is one that I made for a colleague. She had never heard of this kind of paper-crafting or scrapbooking and as many of us, I struggle a bit with describing what it's all about. When her birthday came up, I knew I had to make her a card - action speaks louder than words anyway, right?

What I like best about this one is the soft colors - so unusual for me - and how, although the paper collection (again SC's Atlantic) is nautical themed, it has lots of versatile patterns you can use for non-theme-y projects.

Have a great weekend and see you soon!
