Studio Calico Copper Mountain Kits Revealed

Hello everyone, have you recovered from the holiday feasting? :) As many of you are aware, today is reveal day at Studio Calico, which means that their January kits Copper Mountain are up for sale (noon EST for subscribers/midnight EST for everyone) aaaaand I'm also able to show you the cards I made for the gallery. I've split up my post to show you the kits I've used first, then the cards I made with the respective kit.

Isn't that whale stamp (and die!) the cutest? Tina Aszmus designed it and it was so fun to work with. I used it on two cards for now:

This one uses just the stamp, heat embossed with white Zing on the blue tag from the kit. The next card uses both, the stamp and the die.

I wanted to have the little guy swimming in the "sea" which I painted with Peerless watercolor papers onto watercolor paper. For I bit more dimension on the fishes, I covered them with Glossy Accents.

How about a New Year's card? If you're anything like me, you didn't get to make nearly enough Christmas cards for everyone you wanted to write to, so this is my backup solution ;) The gold star? It's white cardstock sponged with Galaxy Gold ink! Bonus: The "Let's do it" banner is a digital file printed on vellum, e.g. easily replicable for multiple cards.

Now for the cards I made with the card kit add-on… booklovers rejoice!

Studio Calico Copper Mountain Card Kit Add-on Spaulding Bowl (January 2014)

The first card I made with Spaulding Bowl is a mix of the "real" paper/stamps and the digital journaling cards, once printed on vellum and the second time on a dark kraft paper.

Mind you, the glasses stamp has a lot more detail in reality. It's just my inability to make a good stamp impression on the vellum why it looks mostly like one solid image above. For the next card, I kept it really simple except maybe for the stamped "book board".

If you look closer at the stamp set, you'll notice that I masked off the side-leaning book (I did with a post-it) except for one time on the right side. The images were then color with Copic markers (gasp! I'm scared of those to be honest) and I finished off with a sentiment stamp from the add-on kit

The last card for today is purely made from smaller scraps I had left over from both of the kits. I simply "puzzled" them together into a rectangle and sewed them together, then layered them over a piece of washi tape and stamped a sentiment image (both from Spaulding Bowl) on top.

I think, color and embellishment wise, the last one could be a nice card to send out belated birthday wishes for guys in our lives. Oh, and I forgot the take a photo of the inside! There's a a bigger size stamp which says "Hope you had the happiest of birthdays" in there. Also, there were dies added to the Spaulding Bowl add-on after the Creative Team packages were shipped. Especially the bigger shape looks super versatile to use over and over in your crafting.

That is all from me today… to see what the other girl's on the team made, you can view them all in the Copper Mountain gallery. Happy reveal day!

PS: Links to the Copper Mountain kits only work for logged in subscribers until midnight tonight, after that everyone should be able to see and shop :)
